Bike San Gabriel Valley is looking for volunteers to help out with their first wave of bicycle and pedestrian counts in the city of Glendora, Through this volunteering opportunity, many of you will experience first-hand data collection, and gain valuable insight and knowledge that you can apply to your future endeavors.
Now more from Monica Curiel, Active Transportation Data Coordinator at Bike SGV...
The first round we are working on is with Glendora. They are applying for funding to turn ALL the washes (paved rivers/streams) in Glendora into Class 1 bike lanes (that's off street and totally protected)! whoohoo! They actually have some funding that they are using for a section of the San Dimas Wash and the funding they are applying for would help them complete that project and then some! We are helping them collect data that would make their application more successful.
For the next three weeks we will be collecting at 9 locations (that's 27 counts!) and I need your help!
Data counts happen on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 7am to 9am AND 4pm to 6pm, and Saturdays from 11am to 1pm.
You will have to come in for a short training. We will provide all the materials (even a chair if you need one!) and then you will be on your way.
The first round kicks off this Thursday 4/14/16. Any volunteers that adopt a location (that means 3, 2-hour counts at the same location) will get a BikeSGV t-shirt! Any volunteer that completes 10 hours of counts (5 counts) gets entered into an exclusive raffle for a FREE BIKE just for data counters (hint, that's a bike you can gift someone too!) Do more than 10 hours? Our hero! You get more chances at a free bike.
If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out this form.
Any questions can be directed to Austin Phung at email@example.com
BikeSGV's mission to make the San Gabriel Valley a safer, healthier, and more enjoyable place for cycling is made possible by individuals like you.
